No objection to Imran Khan’s bail, says Bilawal

Date:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman and former Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari delivered a clear message: he has no objection to Imran Khan’s bail and won’t oppose the courts if they grant it.

At the same time, he issued a serious warning to India over threats to cut Pakistan’s water supply, calling it a dangerous move that could lead to war.

Speaking to Sky News on Monday, Bilawal said that bail is a legal right, even for political opponents.

“If the court decides to release the PTI founder on bail, we will not oppose it. Bail is his right, and neither I nor my party will challenge the decision,” he stated.

Bilawal emphasized that every case, including Imran Khan’s, should be handled through proper legal channels. He said the PPP believes in the rule of law and has always stood by democratic processes.

But while showing political maturity at home, Bilawal turned sharply critical of India’s recent threats to unilaterally cut off water flowing into Pakistan. He described such actions as a violation of the UN Charter and a direct threat to peace in the region.

“India is using water as a weapon, which endangers the lives of 240 million Pakistanis,” Bilawal warned. “Such threats are not only inhumane but also against international law and the UN Charter.”

The Indus Waters Treaty issue is once again under the spotlight. The treaty, signed in 1960 with World Bank mediation, has kept the peace over water sharing for decades. But Bilawal warned that any attempt to bypass or suspend the agreement would be considered an act of war.

“Pakistan is ready to discuss every issue through peaceful means, but any attempt to unilaterally stop or suspend water flow under the Indus Waters Treaty will be treated as an act of war,” he said.

He accused India of running a dangerous disinformation campaign on sensitive issues like Kashmir and water, trying to paint Pakistan in a negative light while quietly pushing aggressive policies behind the scenes.

“India has consistently misled the international community and is now trying to weaponize essential resources. Water is an indispensable need for Pakistan, and there will be no compromise on it,” Bilawal added.

The PPP leader reminded the world that Pakistan is a responsible nuclear power, committed to peace, but unwilling to tolerate any form of aggression, especially concerning its water rights and territorial integrity.

“While Pakistan seeks peace, our position is clear: any aggressive move on water or territorial matters like Kashmir will be met with a firm response.”

Calling on the international community to act, Bilawal urged global powers and the United Nations to intervene diplomatically before tensions escalate further. He said the people of South Asia deserve peace, not war, and the world must not look the other way.
