In a chilling development that has shaken Pakistan’s entertainment industry, police have uncovered new, disturbing details in the Karachi actress’s death mystery involving Humaira Asghar.
The popular actress and model, missing from public life for months, was discovered dead in her DHA Phase 6 apartment — and investigators now believe her body had been lying there for over six months.
The grim discovery unfolded as the landlord of the apartment, frustrated at the months of arrears in rent, pushed for legal action to be taken. A court bailiff forced himself into the locked flat and was met with the gruesome sight of Humaira Asghar’s highly decomposed body on the floor. She was clad in a pink T-shirt and jeans, and was covered in insects. Decomposition was so far gone that initial identification was not possible.

According to SSP South Mahzoor Ali, initial estimates suggested the body had been there for a few weeks. But a closer investigation painted a far darker picture. Expired food items in the refrigerator dated back to October 2024, and the last outgoing text message from her phone was sent to a ride-hailing driver in September 2024. Power to the apartment was disconnected at the end of October due to unpaid electricity bills.
The actress’s death mystery raised further questions when forensic teams found no signs of recent bloodstains or foul play within the flat. Disturbingly, her knees and joints had started decaying, indicating a prolonged period since death. DNA samples were collected to confirm her identity, though neighbors immediately recognized her as Humaira Asghar.

Adding to the emotional complexity of the case, police records show that Humaira had stopped paying rent since May 2024, and had ceased all contact with her landlord the same year. On social media, where she was previously very active, her last post was dated September 30, 2024, before she suddenly vanished from the public eye.
Her family initially refused to accept the body, citing strained family relationships and interpersonal conflicts. But when public agitation and promises of assistance from fellow artists and human rights activists in helping her be buried were made, something happened.

Humaira’s brother-in-law recently approached the authorities, assuring them that the body would be released to the family. He said Humaira’s father had gone into deep depression after he received the news of her death, and hence the family had retreated initially but was now ready to complete the burial after legal procedures.
DIG South Zone Syed Asad Raza confirmed that the decomposed body was found in the apartment located in Ittehad Commercial, Phase VI, DHA. Police have now de-sealed the apartment and completed a thorough search, ruling out any immediate evidence of murder.
