Five police officers martyred in road accident in Azad Kashmir

In a tragic accident, a police vehicle coming from Toli Peer to Lasdana in the Bagh district of Azad Kashmir fell into a deep gorge on Wednesday, resulting in the martyrdom of five courageous police personnel.

The accident took place late at night in a desolate area, so rescue efforts were very difficult.

According to the Bagh Police Control Room, the vehicle veered off the mountainous road and fell into a deep gorge. Emergency teams were immediately dispatched, but due to the darkness and difficult terrain, the Lasdana Toli Peer road accident rescue operation faced significant hurdles.

Police authorities have confirmed that five officers were lost. Nevertheless, information regarding other individuals in the vehicle is not forthcoming. Authorities are yet to establish the number of individuals on board when the vehicle crashed.

Condemning the horrific news, Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Chaudhry Anwar-ul-Haq was deeply saddened by the loss. He sent best condolence to the martyrs’ families and prayed for their high ranks in the afterlife.

He also instructed a full investigation of the Lasdana Toli Peer road accident and instructed the Deputy Commissioner and the Superintendent of Police to rush to the site without delay.

Rescue forces were promptly mobilized after the special instructions from the Prime Minister, so that all possible resources could be deployed for relief efforts.
