Ishaq Dar assures befitting response to Indian aggression in call with Saudi FM

Date:

Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar called on Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan to convey significant points of Pakistan’s position amid India’s recent unilateral moves.

The senior-level phone call was made as tensions continue to rise in the region, especially following a series of aggressive steps taken by New Delhi.

Both leaders were reportedly satisfied with the robust and dynamic bilateral relationship between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan, according to the Foreign Office. Both leaders also discussed the fast-changing regional dynamics with specific emphasis on security and political changes.

While on the call, Ishaq Dar informed his Saudi counterpart of the choices made by Pakistan’s National Security Committee (NSC), which met in response to India’s aggressive behavior. Dar once again made it clear that Pakistan firmly rejected India’s unfounded accusations and warned that any aggressive move would be welcomed with a “strong and effective response.”

He added that such one-sided moves on the part of India would considerably weaken regional stability and drive the situation towards even greater instability. The two foreign ministers also pledged to remain in close touch with each other and keep in constant contact on emerging developments.

This diplomatic initiative comes on the heels of a series of Islamabad statements accusing India of international norms breach and making attempts at ratcheting up tensions through political and military provocation. Pakistan has time and again called upon the international community, including key allies such as Saudi Arabia, to take cognizance of India’s acts of wantonness.

As there is increasing speculation regarding false flag operations and deterioration of bilateral arrangements such as the Indus Waters Treaty, Islamabad is standing firm on safeguarding national interests while approaching global partners diplomatically.
