RAW-sponsored terror network in Pakistan busted by CTD

Date:

Law enforcement on Wednesday busted a dangerous foreign-backed network allegedly working for India’s intelligence agency, RAW. Officials confirmed that six Pakistani nationals were arrested during “Operation Yalghar,” a meticulously coordinated operation carried out by Punjab’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD).

Punjab Additional IG Shahzada Sultan addressed a press conference on Wednesday, revealing that the arrests were made in southern Punjab districts, including Bahawalpur and Bahawalnagar. “We’ve detained one RAW facilitator from Bahawalpur and two Indian spies from Bahawalnagar,” he said. The RAW-sponsored terror network was allegedly planning attacks on sensitive sites, including mosques and railway stations, aiming to destabilize the region.

According to the CTD, audio recordings of Indian intelligence officers were recovered, providing direct evidence of foreign involvement. The two Indian officers named in the investigation—Major Ravindra and Inspector Singh—are believed to be operatives of RAW. Shockingly, Major Ravindra reportedly delivered explosive devices near the Pakistan border.

“This was a deliberate attempt to create unrest in peaceful areas of Pakistan,” a CTD official noted. “The mosque was a key target and the plot was fully funded through cryptocurrency and branchless banking systems.” Authorities confirmed that this foreign-backed terrorism plot used multiple digital platforms to transfer funds, highlighting the sophistication of the network.

The investigation also shed light on RAW’s continued financial support to elements of the Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP). CTD official Waqar Azeem Kharal disclosed that recent attacks in Mianwali and Dera Ghazi Khan were sponsored through funds routed from Afghanistan. However, the network in Punjab appears to be separate from another RAW-sponsored network dismantled in Karachi earlier the same day.

In Karachi, the Special Investigation Unit (SIU) and security forces arrested four RAW operatives in a parallel raid. According to SSP Shoaib Memon, the suspects were in direct contact with an Indian Army officer named Colonel Ranjit. “All four individuals, residents of Sujawal district, crossed the Indian border over 20 times,” Memon said. Explosives, weapons, and a vehicle were seized during the operation.

The operatives were allegedly sending geotagged images of military installations to their handlers across the border. Cases under anti-state and espionage charges have been filed, and further investigations are ongoing to dismantle the full network.

Punjab Police announced that Pakistan would present these developments at international forums to expose India’s direct involvement in cross-border terrorism. “As a responsible state, Pakistan will not let this go unnoticed,” Shahzada Sultan emphasized.
