Step-by-step guide: How to apply for PM Shehbaz laptop scheme 2025

Date:

As part of a concerted effort to equip young people with digital resources, the federal government has formally launched Phase-IV of the Prime Minister’s Laptop Scheme with a view to handing over 100,000 laptops to deserving students enrolled at public sector universities across Pakistan.

This phase falls under the broader Digital Youth Hub initiative, designed to bridge the digital divide and promote educational equality by enhancing access to technology among students—especially those who are academically strong but financially underprivileged.

According to the Higher Education Commission (HEC), the scheme is open to students currently enrolled in public universities across Pakistan. Special consideration will be given to students from low-income families to ensure that no one is left behind in this digital age.

Who can apply?

To be eligible, students need to meet a few requirements:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a public sector university in Pakistan.
  • Should show strong academic performance.
  • Students from underprivileged backgrounds are strongly encouraged to apply.

How to apply – step-by-step

The application process is entirely online and has been made user-friendly. Here’s how you can apply:

1. Check Eligibility: Make sure you’re studying at a recognized public university and meet the academic standards.

2. Visit the Official Portal: Head over to www.pmyps.gov.pk.

3. Create an Account: Sign up using your student ID, CNIC, and a valid email address.

4. Upload Documents: Attach scanned copies of your CNIC, proof of university enrollment, and academic transcripts.

5. Submit Application: Double-check your information and submit it before the deadline.

6. University Verification: A designated person at your university will verify your application and documents.

7. Merit List Announcement: The HEC will publish a merit-based list of selected students, and laptops will be distributed accordingly.

Deadline to Apply: May 20, 2025

The HEC officials have also made it clear that the procedure will be transparent and merit-based, with only the most eligible students receiving the privilege. They’ve also encouraged students to update their academic records and make them consistent with their application to prevent disqualification.
