Pakistan cricket administration is once again in for a major overhaul as news is emerging that Test captain Shan Masood will soon be relieved of his responsibility.
Sources close to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) reveal that the move has already been decided and an announcement is imminent.
Shan Masood, made Test captain in November 2023, has been unable to provide consistent performances. Pakistan played 12 Tests under his captaincy, winning merely 3 and losing 9. His stint has been marked by a series of poor performances, such as series whitewashes against South Africa, Bangladesh, and Australia. A drawn series with the West Indies was the sole bright spot in the midst of a turbulent season.

Furthermore, Pakistan’s performnace in the ICC World Test Championship was disappointing, finishing last on the points table in ninth place—a stark contrast for a nation with such a storied cricketing heritage.
With the new head coach Mike Hesson’s arrival, the PCB is said to be reshuffling its leadership structure to complement the team’s future aspirations. Hesson’s advice is said to be instrumental in deciding on the next Test captain.
